What Are HOT Devil Heat Wands?

HOT Devil Heat Wands are long-reach gas flame tools designed for targeted thermal weed control & suitable outdoor heating or ignition tasks.

Instead of spraying a chemical weed killer, the wand applies intense heat directly to unwanted plant growth. The aim is to damage the weed's plant tissue with heat rather than trying to reduce it to ash.

The extended burner tube is an important part of the design. It places distance between the operator & burner while allowing weeds at ground level to be reached without repeatedly bending or kneeling.

Product Selection Guide

Butane Or Propane?

This is the clearest difference between the two HOT Devil models.

The HDWK uses a compatible 220g bayonet butane cartridge while the HD8936B uses a CGA600/BOM-compatible propane cylinder.

If you already operate compatible gas equipment, the fuel system used elsewhere in your kit may influence which wand is more convenient.

Compare The Reach

The HDWK provides a 650mm burner tube.

The HD8936B extends that to 850mm.

That additional 200mm can be worth considering where larger areas are being treated or greater distance from the ground-level target is useful.

Consider The Heat Output

The two models also differ considerably in stated burn temperature:

► HDWK – up to 1350°C
► HD8936B – up to 1898°C

Don't treat temperature as the only selection point. Fuel compatibility, reach & the intended work should be considered together.

Match The Gas Correctly

These two wands don't accept the same gas format.

The HDWK uses a bayonet butane cartridge such as the compatible HOT Devil HD200C.

The HD8936B requires a compatible CGA600/BOM propane cylinder.

The weed may be the target but the flame doesn't know the difference between unwanted growth & nearby combustible material.

Thermal weed treatment works by damaging plant tissue with heat.

You don't need to stand over one weed until it's completely burnt away. Apply the heat according to the product instructions then move on.
