Trade Map, Propane, Butane & Oxygen Gas

The label on the cylinder matters as much as the connection on the torch. HOT Devil supplies several gas formats for compatible heating, soldering, brazing & ignition equipment & they aren't interchangeable simply because they're used around flame tools.

Industrial Shed's HOT Devil gas range includes Trade Map gas, propane, butane & oxygen, with cylinders, cartridges & refill formats designed around different equipment connections & applications.

► HOT Devil Trade Map Gas | HDTRD – 400g cylinder with CGA600 connection
► HOT Devil Propane Gas | HDPRO – 400g cylinder with CGA600 connection
► HOT Devil Oxygen – compressed oxygen options for specified HOT Devil equipment
► HOT Devil Purified Butane Gas | HDGAS5 – 300ml refill for compatible refillable products
► HOT Devil Butane Gas Cartridge | HD200C – 220g bayonet cartridge for compatible equipment
► Selected multipacks for trades using compatible gas regularly

Pairing a cylinder with a heating tool? HOT Devil Torches covers the corresponding torch range while Soldering & Heat Tools brings together equipment used around heating & joining work.

What Are HOT Devil Gas Cylinders?

HOT Devil gas cylinders, cartridges & refills provide fuel or oxygen for compatible portable flame equipment.

Each format has a particular role.

Trade Map gas is used with compatible high-temperature Trade Map torches. HOT Devil HDTRD is a 400g cylinder with a CGA600 connection & is associated with flame temperatures up to 2050°C when paired with suitable equipment.

Propane provides another fuel choice for compatible torch systems. HOT Devil HDPRO is also supplied as a 400g CGA600 cylinder with a stated burn temperature up to 1898°C.

Butane covers smaller refillable products & appliances. HOT Devil provides both a universal refill format & a separate bayonet cartridge.

Oxygen performs a different role within compatible oxygen-fuel equipment & must be selected according to the connection specified for that system.

Matching the connection is only one part of the job. The equipment must also be approved for the gas being connected.

Why Choose HOT Devil Gas Cylinders?

One workshop can have several gas-powered tools without those tools sharing the same fuel requirement.

A plumber using a Trade Map torch for silver soldering may need HDTRD. A compatible propane torch may call for HDPRO while a refillable lighter or compact butane tool requires an entirely different supply format.

The HOT Devil range covers those requirements with:

► Trade Map gas for compatible high-temperature torch work
► Propane gas for equipment specified for propane
► Compressed oxygen for compatible oxygen-fuel systems
► Purified butane refill gas for suitable refillable products
► 220g bayonet butane cartridges for equipment accepting that cartridge format
► Individual cylinders for straightforward replacement
► Selected multipacks where regular gas consumption makes additional stock practical

This makes it possible to replenish the gas around the equipment already in service rather than treating every portable flame tool as though it uses the same cylinder.

Common Applications

Silver Soldering Copper Pipe

Copper fittings absorb & transfer heat quickly which makes the combination of fuel, torch & burner important.

Trade Map gas is commonly paired with compatible HOT Devil Trade Map torches for silver soldering work where rapid heat transfer is useful.

Pipe diameter, fitting size, burner design & surrounding conditions can all affect how the joint responds to heat.

Brazing Work

A heavier workpiece can draw heat away from the joint faster than a small fitting.

Trade Map gas provides a high-temperature fuel option for compatible torches used in suitable brazing applications involving materials such as copper, mild steel & aluminium.

Where brazing forms part of a wider fabrication job, Welding Consumables & Accessories covers supporting metalworking consumables.

Workshop Heating & Maintenance

Portable torch systems can be useful for suitable heat-shrink work, seized fasteners & other localised heating jobs.

The gas shouldn't be chosen from the task name alone. Check which fuel the torch is designed to use before connecting a cylinder.

Plumbing Repairs

Portable gas makes it possible to bring the heat source to installed pipework where conditions allow flame-based work.

For plumbers carrying out repeated soldering or brazing, cylinder quantity can become part of job preparation rather than an afterthought once the current bottle is nearly empty.

Refilling Compatible Butane Equipment

A refill valve & a bayonet fitting require completely different gas formats.

HOT Devil HDGAS5 provides a 300ml purified butane refill for compatible refillable products.

The HD200C is instead a 220g bayonet cartridge intended for equipment designed to accept that cartridge system.

Product Selection Guide

Read The Equipment Before Reaching For A Cylinder

Look for the specified fuel, cylinder format & connection on the torch, appliance or manufacturer's instructions.

If the equipment calls for Trade Map gas, select the appropriate Trade Map supply. If it specifies propane, butane or an oxygen cylinder, follow that requirement.

Physical fit alone isn't enough to establish compatibility.

Comparing Trade Map & Propane

HOT Devil HDTRD & HDPRO share some physical characteristics but contain different fuels.

Stated Burn Temperature

Up to 2050°C

Up to 1898°C

Trade Map provides the higher stated burn temperature while propane offers another option for equipment designed to use it.

The matching CGA600 connection shouldn't be treated as permission to change fuels without checking the torch specification.

Know Your Butane Connection

If the product is refilled through a suitable refill valve, HDGAS5 may be the relevant format.

If the equipment accepts a removable 220g bayonet cartridge, look to HD200C.

A quick inspection of the receiving connection can prevent buying the right gas in the wrong package.

Pay Attention To Oxygen Connections

HOT Devil oxygen options include different connections such as reverse CGA600 & M12 Oxygen.

Don't select an oxygen cylinder by appearance or general product description. Match its product specification directly to the compatible equipment.

Decide How Much Gas Belongs On The Shelf

An occasional repair & a workshop carrying out repeated soldering work don't consume cylinders at the same rate.

For regular use, selected HOT Devil gas multipacks can provide additional stock without waiting until the cylinder attached to the torch is almost empty.

Storage arrangements & expected consumption should determine how much is kept on hand.

Inspect Before Assembly

Take a moment to look at the cylinder, valve area, connection & torch before fitting them together.

Damaged components, contaminated connections or anything that doesn't engage as intended should be dealt with rather than forced into service.

Store The Cylinder As A Gas Cylinder

A disconnected cylinder isn't an inactive workshop item.

Follow the relevant product information for handling, storage, transport & disposal & protect cylinders from inappropriate heat, ignition sources & unsuitable storage conditions.

Expert Tips

Same Thread Doesn't Mean Same Fuel

HDTRD & HDPRO both use CGA600 connections but their contents aren't identical.

Check the fuel approved for the torch as well as the connection.

Think Beyond Maximum Flame Temperature

A higher temperature figure can be useful for demanding heating work but it isn't the only consideration.

Burner design, workpiece mass, material & the heating process all affect how effectively the setup performs.

Separate Your Butane Formats

Keeping refill cans & bayonet cartridges clearly organised can prevent the wrong product being taken to a job.

They may both contain butane but they're intended to connect to equipment differently.

Watch Cylinder Levels Before Larger Jobs

A partly used cylinder might be sufficient for a quick heating task but less useful when several prepared joints are waiting.

Workshops using gas regularly can make cylinder checks part of normal job preparation.

Keep Connections Protected

Avoid allowing dirt & workshop debris to collect around cylinder connections.

Inspect the mating surfaces before assembly rather than relying on tightening force to overcome a poor connection.

Treat Oxygen Differently From Fuel Gas

Oxygen supports combustion & requires its own handling considerations.

Use only the specified equipment, connections & procedures for the oxygen system being operated.

Why Buy HOT Devil Gas Cylinders From Industrial Shed?

Consumable gas has to fit into the rhythm of the work. Plumbers, fabricators, mechanics & maintenance teams need the correct cylinder available when the torch is ready rather than discovering the mismatch after a joint has been prepared.

Industrial Shed brings HOT Devil gas together with compatible heating, soldering & workshop equipment so the consumable can be sourced alongside the tools that use it.

Businesses replenishing workshop consumables regularly can use Trade support Solutions for ongoing trade purchasing support.

For current order processing & delivery information, Same day dispatch covers Industrial Shed's dispatch options.

More From The Black Print

Gas type changes & so do the handling requirements that come with it. Understanding the supplied safety information helps workshop teams distinguish the precautions relevant to the product they're actually using.

How to Read a Safety Data Sheet - A Quick Guide for Workshop Operators explains where to find key handling, hazard & storage information in an SDS.

The Cylinder Has To Match What You're Connecting

Trade Map, propane, butane & oxygen aren't four versions of the same consumable. The connection, fuel & equipment requirements determine what belongs on the job.

Check the torch or appliance first, identify the specified gas then select the HOT Devil cylinder, cartridge or refill that matches it.

Frequently Asked Questions

HDTRD uses a CGA600 connection. The torch must also be specified as compatible with Trade Map gas before the cylinder is connected.

That depends on the torch, joint size & heating requirement. Trade Map provides a higher stated burn temperature but the fuel still needs to be approved for the torch being used.

Don't assume they are. HDTRD contains Trade Map gas while HDPRO contains propane. Confirm the approved fuel for the individual torch.

HDGAS5 is HOT Devil's 300ml purified butane refill for compatible refillable equipment. Follow the requirements supplied with the individual product.

HD200C is a 220g bayonet cartridge intended for compatible equipment designed around that cartridge connection.

Different oxygen equipment can require different connections. Match the specific oxygen cylinder to the system rather than choosing by cylinder size or appearance.
