Lifting Clamps & Magnets

Shop purpose-built plate clamps and magnetic lifters for controlled handling of ferrous steel and compatible materials. These products are selected by gripping method, material condition, thickness range, working load limit and load orientation—not simply by the weight printed on the item.

Choose the correct handling method

Plate clamps are designed for specified plate thicknesses and lifting orientations. Magnetic lifters require suitable ferrous material, adequate surface contact and clean, flat engagement. Confirm the manufacturer’s capacity chart and operating conditions before use; surface condition, thickness, curvature and air gaps can materially reduce magnetic holding performance.

Build a rated lifting arrangement

Pair compatible equipment with lifting hooks, clamps and shackles, chain slings and chain blocks. Do not use clamps or magnets to lift people, unstable loads or material outside the specified range.

Safety and inspection

Keep hands and feet clear, never stand beneath a suspended load and establish an exclusion zone. Inspect jaws, pivots, pads, magnets, handles, locks and identification markings before every lift. Remove damaged or uncertain equipment from service.

Frequently asked questions

Will a magnetic lifter work on painted or thin steel?

Paint, rust, scale, air gaps and reduced material thickness can lower holding force. Confirm the supplier’s derating information and use only on material within the specified conditions.

Can a plate clamp lift any sheet thickness?

No. Clamp jaws have defined thickness ranges and lifting orientations. Check both the plate thickness and the product documentation before use.
