Chain Slings

Chain slings provide durable, configurable lifting connections for industrial loads where the correct grade, number of legs, reach and end fittings have been specified. They are commonly used with hooks, shackles, lifting lugs and hoists in workshops, fabrication facilities and maintenance operations.

Choose the sling configuration

Select by working load limit, grade, leg count, reach, master-link style and end fittings. Sling angle changes the force carried by each leg, so never assume the vertical rating applies to a multi-leg or angled lift. Use lifting hooks, clamps and shackles and lifting chain, wire rope and fittings to complete compatible systems.

Care and inspection

Inspect every sling for stretched links, nicks, cracks, excessive wear, damaged hooks, distorted master links and legible identification tags. Do not shorten, knot, weld, repair or modify a sling unless performed through an approved process by a competent provider.

Frequently asked questions

How does sling angle affect capacity?

As the angle between sling legs increases, the force in each leg rises and the allowable load can decrease. Refer to the manufacturer’s angle-rating guidance before lifting.

When should a chain sling be removed from service?

Remove it immediately if it is damaged, altered, missing identification, excessively worn or otherwise questionable. Have it assessed by a competent person before any further use.
