Work safety protection and PPE for Australian worksites

Industrial Shed’s Work Safety Protection collection is the parent range for personal protective equipment and site-safety products used in construction, fabrication, maintenance, warehousing, utilities and industrial work. It is being structured around genuine protection categories so customers can shop eye, hearing, head, face, respiratory, hand and site-control products without the collection being limited to dust masks.

PPE is the last line of defence and must follow the workplace risk assessment, hierarchy of controls and site procedures. A product’s colour, shape or marketing name does not prove suitability. Confirm the exact standard, class, rating, protection level, fit, compatibility and replacement schedule on the individual product and current manufacturer documentation.

Eye, face and hearing protection

Use Eye & Ear Protection for safety glasses, goggles, earmuffs and earplugs, and Face Shields & Visors for broader face coverage. Face shields normally supplement—not replace—primary eye protection. Hearing protection should be selected for the measured exposure and fitted correctly; excessive attenuation can also create communication and situational-awareness issues.

Head and respiratory protection

Safety Helmets & Hard Hats are selected by the applicable standard, type, electrical properties, suspension, accessory compatibility and replacement guidance. Respirators require hazard identification, an appropriate filter or cartridge, facial fit and a suitable respiratory-protection program. Disposable dust masks are not a universal control for fumes, vapours, gases or oxygen-deficient environments.

Hand, arm and welding protection

General-purpose, cut-resistant, impact, chemical and welding gloves protect against different hazards. Compare tested performance, coating, cuff, dexterity and the actual material handled. Welding helmets, visors, jackets, gloves and sleeves must be matched to the welding process and exposure; a welding accessory is not automatically protective equipment.

Brands and supplier-specific ranges

Current safety ranges include Maxisafe eye, hearing, head and respiratory products; Frontier gloves, head protection and site-control products; and Elliotts welding protection, gloves, sleeves and protective clothing. Selected Weldclass, Weldtronic, Milwaukee, Kincrome and other ranges may also appear where the exact product function belongs in safety. Individual standards and ratings remain model-specific.

Workplace safety and PPE for eye, hearing, head, face, respiratory, hand and site protection.
Select PPE from the workplace risk assessment and verify the exact standard, rating, fit and compatibility for each product.

Build a PPE list from the hazard assessment

Identify the hazard, exposure route, concentration or energy level, duration, environment and other controls already in place. Then select each PPE item using the relevant standard and manufacturer data. Check that helmets, earmuffs, visors, respirators and eyewear can be worn together without breaking seals or compromising fit.

Train users in fitting, inspection, cleaning, storage and replacement. Disposable and reusable products have different service lives, and filters or cartridges require a change schedule based on the hazard and manufacturer guidance.

Do not apply collection-wide compliance claims

Standards, classes and ratings vary by model, size and configuration. Industrial Shed therefore lists safety performance against the exact SKU where verified instead of claiming every product in a broad collection meets one standard. If a required rating is not shown, request current supplier documentation before ordering.

Bulk and project quotations should include the hazard, required standard, sizes, quantity, delivery location and replacement consumables. This helps match the whole protection system rather than supplying unrelated items that cannot be used together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every product in this collection meet the same Australian Standard?

No. Standards and ratings are model-specific. Check the exact product and current manufacturer documentation against the workplace risk assessment.

Can a face shield replace safety glasses?

Usually no. A face shield commonly provides secondary face coverage while compliant safety glasses or goggles provide primary eye protection. Follow the hazard assessment and manufacturer instructions.

How do I choose the correct respirator filter?

Identify the contaminant, form, concentration and exposure conditions, then use the respirator manufacturer’s selection guidance. Fit testing and a suitable respiratory-protection program may also be required.

Can hard-hat accessories from different brands be mixed?

Only when the manufacturers confirm compatibility. Slot shape alone does not prove that earmuffs, visors, chin straps or other accessories maintain the helmet’s tested performance.

Can Industrial Shed quote PPE for a whole crew or project?

Yes. Provide the hazard, required standards, sizes, quantities, destination and required date. Industrial Shed can prepare bulk and project quotations and check replacement consumables.
