Floor-to-Wall Junctions

The tape is used with an appropriate elastic liquid membrane such as Soudagum LM rather than being treated as a standalone waterproofing shortcut.

Internal Corners

Trying to fold straight tape neatly through an internal corner can introduce unnecessary bunching, gaps or awkward overlaps.

Soudatape IC is preformed specifically for inside corners.

That geometry makes the component easier to integrate with adjoining Soudatape ST than trying to manufacture the corner detail on site from a flat strip.

External Corners

Rather than manipulating a flat strip into three-dimensional corner geometry, the preformed component gives the installer a purpose-shaped detail.

Soudal specifies a 50 mm overlap between IC or OC corner pieces & adjoining Soudatape ST.

Soudatape OC

Use Soudatape OC where the waterproofing system passes around an external corner.

Like the internal version, it arrives preformed to make the transition easier to detail consistently.

Soudatape PD

Use Soudatape PD around suitable pipes & drains.

The preformed cuff provides a more logical solution to a circular penetration than attempting to construct the detail from multiple pieces of straight tape.

Expert Tips

Pressure Is Part of the Bond

Mounting tape doesn't simply need to touch the surface.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive develops its bond through firm contact. Apply the tape correctly & press it firmly across the bonding area rather than placing it lightly & expecting full performance.

Clean Doesn't Just Mean Dust-Free

Fingerprints, grease, condensation & surface contamination can interfere with adhesion even when the substrate looks clean.

Prepare the surface before applying mounting tape & make sure frost or condensation isn't trapped at the bond line.

Give Ultra Strong Tape Enough Contact Area

Soudal recommends applying Fix ALL Mounting Tape Ultra Strong over the full length of the object being bonded & preferably orienting the tape vertically.

Firm pressure should be applied during installation.

Where a mounted item will carry a load, don't rush straight from application to maximum loading. Follow the current product instructions for the required waiting period.

Transparent Tape Still Needs the Right Surface

Invisible doesn't mean universal.

Fix ALL Mounting Tape Transparent works across many compatible materials, but surface finish, cleanliness, curvature & material type still affect adhesion.

A small preliminary adhesion test is sensible when the substrate is unfamiliar.

Find Out Which Plastic You're Bonding

“Plastic” isn't specific enough.

Fix ALL Mounting Tape Ultra Strong isn't suitable for low-surface-energy materials including PE, PP, PTFE & EVA.

Identify the actual substrate instead of assuming every plastic surface will respond the same way.

Build Waterproofing Through the Corner

Corners & penetrations are exactly where a waterproof layer becomes more difficult to keep continuous.

Use the appropriate straight tape, preformed corner or pipe cuff rather than improvising every change in geometry from one roll.

Respect the 50 mm Overlap

Where Soudatape IC or OC meets Soudatape ST, Soudal specifies a 50 mm overlap.

That overlap is part of creating a continuous detail through the junction, so allow for it before cutting adjoining tape.

Waterproofing Tape & Mounting Tape Aren't Interchangeable

They may sit within the same Soudal collection, but they perform fundamentally different jobs.

Mounting tape fixes an object to a compatible substrate. Soudatape works with the appropriate Soudal waterproof membrane to detail specified junctions & penetrations.

Choose by function first.

Exterior Use Still Needs the Complete System

A terrace, external junction or other outdoor detail exposes waterproofing materials to different conditions from an internal bathroom.

Soudatape can form part of specified interior & exterior waterproofing work, but it should be installed within the compatible membrane system rather than used as a general-purpose patch over an exterior leak.

Inspect the Hidden Work Before Covering It

A finished tile can hide every waterproofing detail beneath it.
