Manufactured from premium High Speed Steel (HSS), the 3044-1B features a bottoming lead (two threads) that allows tapping right to the bottom of blind holes with excellent accuracy. BA threads were first adopted by the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1884 and are characterised by a rounded crest and root with an included angle of 47.5°, providing smooth engagement and a high-finish thread form ideal for precision components. Bottoming taps are typically used after taper or intermediate taps to complete the thread to full depth.
