The Bordo 5/16" x 22 BSF Bottoming HSS Tap is a professional-grade British Standard Fine (BSF) thread cutting tool engineered to deliver full-depth, accurate internal threads — especially at the bottom of blind holes. Designed for workshop, fabrication, automotive and general industrial use, this tap ensures minimal thread run-out when finalising thread profiles following the initial thread start.

Manufactured from durable High-Speed Steel (HSS), this BSF bottoming tap features the classic British Standard Fine thread form, a fine-pitch variant of the Whitworth family of threads that uses a 55° thread angle and provides greater tensile engagement compared to coarser profiles. Bottoming taps have a short two-thread lead, allowing threads to be cut right to the base of a blind hole — and are typically used after a taper or intermediate tap has begun the thread form. With a 5/16" nominal diameter, 22 threads per inch (TPI) and a recommended drill diameter of approximately 6.8 mm, this tap is suitable for hand and general machine use in medium tensile materials.
