The Bordo 5/16" x 18 BSW Bottoming HSS Tap is a professional-grade British Standard Whitworth (BSW) thread cutting tool designed to deliver full-depth, accurate internal threads in the bottom of blind holes. Ideal for workshop, fabrication, restoration and general industrial use, this tap ensures reliable thread continuity and minimal run-out when threading to the bottom surface.

Manufactured from durable high-speed steel (HSS), this BSW bottoming tap features the classic 55° thread form with rounded roots and crests — the traditional Whitworth standard originally developed by Sir Joseph Whitworth and specified in BS84:1956. Bottoming taps have a short two-thread lead that allows the cutting to reach as close as possible to the base of a blind hole after a taper or intermediate tap has started the thread. With a 5/16" diameter and 18 threads per inch (TPI), this tap is suitable for internal thread cutting in medium tensile materials and can be used for both hand and general machine tapping operations.
