Designed for workshop, fabrication and industrial applications, this complete set provides a full range of taps to start, form and finish threads — making it ideal for general purpose tapping tasks.

Manufactured from durable high-speed steel (HSS), this BSW tap set features the classic Whitworth thread form with a 55° thread angle and rounded roots and crests — originally developed by Sir Joseph Whitworth and specified in BS84:1956. The set includes taper, intermediate and bottoming taps, allowing controlled thread engagement from start to finish: taper taps initiate threads with gradual engagement, intermediate taps cut threads true to the pilot hole, and bottoming taps complete full-depth threads in blind holes. With a 1/2" diameter and 12 threads per inch (TPI), this set is suitable for use in metals and other machinable materials — ideal for both hand and general machine tapping.
